Why does Max wake

It’s so bizarre most of the time max goes down a dream. Sometimes he cries for 5 min or so but he mainly snoozes straight away.

9 times out of 10 he will wake crying before midnight and sometimes during the early hours.

I think he has nightmares. When he wakes I soothe him give him his dummy and sometimes as a last resort I give him milk.

Sometimes he wants to be held and sometimes he jumps out of my arms back in to the cot only to resume the wailing .

It really leaves me at a loss. I’m terrible with the nighttime crying, often I’m knackered by then and my patience has worn down after a long day. Dan on the other hand is fantastic with the night time soothing  (which naturally drives me mental).

I wish Max could just say to me what was keeping him awake. He’s room is dark he seems warm enough,he’s bum is clean and he has a dummy in his gob and  classic fm on low in the background.

What are your experiences with waking babies. It’s so exhausting I wish he would just sleep all the way thru preferably till 9 in the morning (dream on right).

  1. It could be nightmares. How old is he? My daughter is one and she rarely has a bad dream(Though she wakes up to only be changed or fed.) Only thing different is, she sleeps in her crib in our bedroom because I want her near me until she is older. She recently turned one, and when she turns two, I think I’ll put her in her own room. 🙂

Try letting him sleep in your room (or put a plug in nightlight in his room.)

    • Sometimes max does just go back to sleep. Sometimes I will let him cry for 5 or 10 mins and he settles himself. It’s always when ur
just about to eat or watch a film 🙂

  2. I hear you. Just when you think you’ve got it down, they are awake again. We’ve tried so much, but it depends on the night. Usually a cuddle and then put back into bed, other nights, just a rub on the back and a calming voice works. Other times, we leave ours go to see if it’s just in their sleep; sometimes they don’t even realize what they are doing and they wake more scared with us there. Best of luck!

  3. My four month old gets nightmares too, but it usually happens in the earlier part of the night or during his daytime naps. He just wakes up crying and I wish I knew what little babies dream about! When it happens, I just give him a cuddle and nurse him if he wants to and then he just sleeps through the night. When it seems to be a bothersome dream, I actually gently wake him up — seeing me and his dad seems to calm him and make him happy — then it just takes me about 5 – 10 minutes to get him to sleep again.
